“KAIA: despertar en lo profundo” es la mística encarnación de Natalia Ponce de León - sobreviviente de un brutal ataque de ácido - quién logró tornar esta tragedia en un movimiento nacional, en pro de combatir la violencia de género y la percepción de las mujeres en Colombia. ISBN: 978-1-892494-66-5.

Después del ataque, Natalia se sumerge en un constante abismo de dolor y depresión que la lleva en una travesía al reino espiritual, el cual está habitado por una gigantesca serpiente con el poder de sanar o destruir. Finalmente, nuestra protagonista vuelve de este viaje  de introspección, convertida en Kaia, defensora de los vulnerables y protectora de los inocentes, quienes han sido traumatizado por la injusticia y la violencia en la Colombia moderna.  Así pues, la historia de Natalia es narrada  en un cómic fantástico de realidad aumentada, creado por Melanconnie, Laura Velandia y Faebian Ceruleo. Usando una app gratuita de realidad aumentada, los lectores pueden escanear el cómic para ver la animación, las historias de la vida real, películas y otros elementos interactivos que se activan en las páginas.

After the attack, Natalia plunges into the abyss of constant pain and depression that takes her on a journey to a spiritual kingdom inhabited by a giant snake with the power to heal or destroy. She returns from the netherworlds as Kaia to defend the vulnerable and protect the innocent who are traumatized by injustice and violence in modern Colombia.  Natalia’s story is imagined in a fantastical augmented reality comic book created by Melanconnie, Laura Velandia and Faebian Ceruleo. Using a free augmented reality app, readers can scan the comic book to view animation, real-life stories, films, and other interactive elements pop-out of the pages.

MELANCONNIE es ilustradora y animadora. Como activista de género y raza, ha sido fundadore de un colectivo artístico, Severas Nenas, que realizó múltiples proyectos de sensibilización y acción a nivel local e internacional. Nominade a mejor videoclip en Bogoshorts 2021 con el videoclip feminista “Los Chicos Si Lloran” de la banda ganadora del Grammy Diamante Eléctrico. Egresade ​​de la Universidad de los Andes en Bogotá, Colombia, creó Superhéroes y talleres de cómic en Bogotá. Ilustró Priya and the Wolves & Priya and the Swarm. Su amor por el dibujo solo se compara con su amor por los insectos.

MELANCONNIE is an illustrator and animator. As a gender and race activist, they has been founder of an art collective, Severas Nenas, which did multiple projects for awareness and action locally and internationally. Nominated for best videoclip on Bogoshorts 2021 with feminist music video “Los Chicos Si Lloran” for the Grammy winning band Diamante Eléctrico. Graduated from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, they created Super Sheroes and comic workshops in Bogotá. They illustrated Priya and the Wolves & Priya and the Swarm. Their’s love for drawing is only matched by their love for insects.

LAURA VELANDIA es escritora, periodista, actriz y dramaturga de Bogotá, Colombia. Su investigación se centra en el posconflicto colombiano en torno a cuestiones de género y raza. Graduada en agosto de 2020 de la Universidad de Los Andes en Colombia, con un taller que investigó cómo el teatro físico puede ser utilizado para la reconciliación y reparación de las víctimas del conflicto en Tumaco, Nariño. Actualmente estudia su maestría en escritura creativa en la Universidad Nacional y escribe su primera novela, en la que realiza un hermoso trabajo retratando la experiencia de ser criada como mujer en Colombia.

LAURA VELANDIA is a writer, journalist, actress and playwright from Bogota, Colombia. Her research focuses on the Colombian post-conflict involving gender and race issues. Graduated in August 2020 from La Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia, with a workshop that investigated how physical theatre can be used for reconciliation and reparation for conflict victims in Tumaco, Nariño. She is currently studying her creative writing masters in La Universidad Nacional and writing her first novel, in which she makes a beautiful work portraying the experience of being raised as woman in Colombia.
